In what is set to be the biggest match of the Premier League so far this season. Manchester United take on Manchester City at Old Trafford. It will be the 172nd Manchester derby and this time it will be with old foes Jose Mourihno and Pep Guardiola colliding again.
Both fans will surely be eager to take the bragging rights of the city and a potential leap towards a title march.
The two clubs have dramatically spent this summer and improved on what they will consider to be a poor season from both sides. Manchester United smashing the world record transfer fee for French, flamboyant midfielder Paul Pogba and Manchester City splashing the cash on now, the world’s most expensive defender John Stones.
Vincent Kompany has begun training again with City but is unlikely to be played whilst Sergio Aguero will not be in contention after a 3 game ban for an elbow on West Ham’s Winston Reid. The ex Barcelona Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is set to make his debut in the derby, having just signed before the transfer window shut for a reported fee of £17 million, with seasoned keeper Joe Hart going out on loan to Torino.
United however have no injury concerns and have the option of highly rated left back Luke Shaw who is back from his horrific leg break last year. Zlatan Imbrahimovic will most likely start and Mourinho may be tempted to play Marcus Rashford, who scored on his England U21’s debut this week.
It has the potential to be an explosive game with all eyes surely on the two managers who will experience their first Manchester derby.
Eye Spy Predicts: A 1-1 draw. Both sides will be desperate not to lose this one so soon in the season and will cancel each other out.
