M66 Derby – Rochdale vs Bury

Rochdale and Bury clash again for the 3rd time this season. Their previous encounter in the league at Gigg Lane ending in a 0-0 draw. Then a December FA Cup Second Round tie finishing with The Shakers just barely progressing through 1-0.

The game this time being played at Spotland, the Dale will surely want to get all 3 points and take the bragging rights for the rest of the season. Keith Hill’s men have won 3 out of their last 4 games with a surprise win last weekend against promotion chasing Coventry. Dale currently sit comfortably 14th in the league whilst David Flitcroft’s team sit right behind them in 15th, but they have only won 1 game in their last 4.

Bury have just signed creative midfielder Danny Gardner from league rivals Chesterfield on loan until the end of the season. So no doubt he will make his debut and will be the one to watch on Saturday. Whilst the only recent transfer activity from Rochdale is striker Lewis Alessandra heading out on loan to League 2 strugglers York City.

Grant Holt is back in Rochdale colours.

Proven top level goalscorer Grant Holt will be available at the Dale’s disposal, making a return to the club where he first started out. Bury also have experience up front with Leon Clarke and Ryan Lowe who both know where the back of the net is.

Can Leon Clarke continue his fine season for Bury?.

There has only been 1 goal between the sides this season and because of the rivalry between them, both teams will most likely again look to keep it tight at back and another stalemate could be on the cards. The atmosphere however, will be a great one on Saturday and both sets of fans will be wishing for the 3 points.
